Which products make up Power Platform?
Microsoft describes Power Platform as five product areas. All of them can use the same data layer, Microsoft Dataverse.
| Product | What it does |
|---|---|
| Power Apps | Custom business apps |
| Power Automate | Process automation with cloud and desktop flows |
| Power BI | Reports and data analysis |
| Copilot Studio | AI-powered agents and agent flows |
| Power Pages | External-facing business websites connected to Dataverse |
What is Power Platform used for?
With Power Platform, apps, automation, reports and AI agents are built on one platform. Microsoft designed it for everyone, from frontline workers to professional developers.
- Automating manual processes. Approvals, notifications and moving data between systems.
- Custom apps. For business processes that off-the-shelf software doesn't cover.
- Reporting. Bringing data from different systems together in Power BI dashboards.
How does Power Platform relate to Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365?
Dynamics 365 apps such as Sales and Customer Service store their data in Dataverse, so Power Platform extends them directly. Power Apps can also be embedded in SharePoint, Teams, Power BI and Dynamics 365.
