SharePoint 2013 → Subscription Edition
SharePoint on-premises installation, upgrades and support
Inthouse helps organizations that run SharePoint Server on-premises with installation, upgrades to Subscription Edition, maintenance and custom apps. We've worked on the SharePoint environments of BİM, Türk Eximbank, PwC and Multinet.
Microsoft support for SharePoint 2016 and 2019 has ended
Extended support for both versions ended on July 14, 2026. They no longer receive security updates, and there is no paid extension program. If you need to stay on-premises, the current path is SharePoint Server Subscription Edition.
Does this sound familiar?
You run SharePoint 2013, 2016 or 2019, and your version no longer gets security updates.
Regulation or company policy requires your data to stay on-premises.
Custom solutions, workflows and integrations make an upgrade look risky.
You don't have a SharePoint specialist in-house, or your team is busy with other work.
What we do
Installation and configuration
We set up Subscription Edition environments, from architecture to configuration. That's how we built BİM's SharePoint Subscription Edition environment.
Version upgrades
We move content, permissions and custom solutions together from 2013, 2016 and 2019 to Subscription Edition. We've upgraded Türk Eximbank and PwC to Subscription Edition.
Administration and maintenance
We take care of updates, monitoring and troubleshooting on a regular schedule. We maintain Multinet's SharePoint 2013 environment.
Custom apps
We build workflows, apps and integrations on SharePoint, and adapt existing ones to the new version.
How do you upgrade to SharePoint Subscription Edition?
Microsoft supports direct upgrades to Subscription Edition only from SharePoint 2016 and 2019. If you're on 2013, you upgrade to 2016 first, then to Subscription Edition. The new environment needs current Windows Server and SQL Server versions, so every upgrade starts with an infrastructure review.
Assess
We map your environment, custom solutions and infrastructure needs.
Prepare
We build the new environment and rewrite or adapt incompatible solutions.
Trial migration
We move content to a test environment and validate it with your users.
Go live and support
We complete the move in a planned window and support the environment afterwards.
Microsoft support dates for SharePoint Server versions
Dates from Microsoft's lifecycle pages. Versions whose support has ended no longer receive security updates.
| Version | Mainstream support | Extended support |
|---|---|---|
| SharePoint Server 2013 | Ended 10 April 2018 | Ended 11 April 2023 |
| SharePoint Server 2016 | Ended 13 July 2021 | Ended 14 July 2026 |
| SharePoint Server 2019 | Ended 9 January 2024 | Ended 14 July 2026 |
| SharePoint Server Subscription Edition | Modern Lifecycle Policy | Supported as long as current updates are installed |
SharePoint Online or Subscription Edition?
Both are supported ways forward from SharePoint 2016 and 2019. The right one depends on where your data must stay and how much you have customized.
| Topic | SharePoint Online | SharePoint Server Subscription Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | Microsoft's cloud, as part of Microsoft 365 | Your own servers or your own cloud infrastructure |
| Updates | Microsoft updates it continuously | You install the updates Microsoft releases |
| Customization | SharePoint Framework and Power Platform; no server-side code | SharePoint Framework plus server-side solutions |
| Licensing | Per-user Microsoft 365 or SharePoint Online subscription | Server and client access licenses, with active Software Assurance or a subscription |
| Infrastructure | Nothing to run on your side | Windows Server, SQL Server and the farm are yours to run |
| Fits when | You want no servers to run and new features first | Data must stay on your premises, or you depend on server-side customizations |

Frequently asked questions
When did Microsoft support for SharePoint 2016 and 2019 end?
On July 14, 2026. Since then, neither version receives security updates or technical support. Support for SharePoint 2013 ended on April 11, 2023.
Can we upgrade straight from SharePoint 2013 to Subscription Edition?
No. Microsoft supports direct upgrades to Subscription Edition only from 2016 and 2019. Content from 2013 moves to 2016 first, then to Subscription Edition.
Should we move to SharePoint Online instead of Subscription Edition?
It depends on your organization. If your data must stay on-premises or you rely on heavy custom solutions, Subscription Edition makes sense. If not, we'll look at SharePoint Online with you too.
Can people keep working during the upgrade?
We run the move in a planned window and agree the downtime with you in advance.
Can you also maintain our current environment?
Yes. We can maintain your current version before any upgrade, as we do for Multinet. If you prefer, we set it up as an SLA-backed managed service.
